Hmwrk #3

Complete the 12 part scale of your three primaries and three secondaries.

After the scale complete one transferred grid and one free painting, each 8 x8, using one cross section level of the value scale as your as your palette. Each of the colors
should be able to be matched to the color value on the scale you are sampling from.
Choose a theme for the free painting so it stays consistent.

Hmwrk #1 Spring 2018

For page one in your signature thoughtfully design a page with 12 squares. Each square will house one mixture of two colors of paint from your kit. There should be four sections to each square. Proportion is up to you but each square should be balanced and consistent. Think about which colors will be given more weight and why.

The four sections should consist of a section for each of the two colors straight from the tube, a direct 50/ 50 mixture of the colors, as well as an attempt by the student to get the truest hue possible from the mixtures of paint. So one would attempt to get the truest orange from a mixture of red and yellow or the best green from blue and yellow.

Following are all the combinations that should be represented in the squares.

Hansa Yellow = HY
Cadmium Yellow = CY
Quinacridone Violet = QV
Cadmium Red = CR
Phthalocyanine Blue = PB
Ultramarine Blue = UB

QV + PB
QV + CY
QV + HY
QV + UB
CR + HY
CR + CY
CR + UB
