Proposal for Project to be discussed in class
You are strongly encouraged to attend Buy Shaver’s Book binding demo Friday
Using only mark and shape (nonrepresentational form) create an accordion book with
imagery that tells a story of or shows transformation. Before you begin choose a formal
theme and do a loose thumbnail drawing of the book. Consider that the layout should be
interesting both page to page and as a whole. Also measure out a folder with a spine for the
book. The cover may remain untouched or 'blank'.

Make a well made 12 x 8.25 mockup of your potential layout considering concepts from the
in class layout talk. These are not sketches and should be as finished as possible. Use
markers, pens, or paint. No pencil or colored pencil.

For Monday finish the facetrace images strted in class. You can eamil me a .jpg of the finished image or print it in the output center. Illustrator > File > Export as... > .jpg
You also need to bring me a more in depth proposal. This needs to be a physical representation of your thought process so far. It can be hand drawn or painted and does not need to be highly finished but should be well prepared and thought through to this point in the process. It will go up on the wall so it needs to be presentable. It will be graded.

Hmwrk #7 Due 3/12
Paint out a traditional color wheel, give a definition and painted example of each harmony discussed in class. The 7 are listed below.
Tequila sunrise…
On a scrap piece of paper each student will write a phrase no more than a sentence that they feel conveys a set of color relationships within a color harmony of their choice (monochromatic, tetradic, analogous, etc.) They will then put the paper on the teachers desk. Each student will select a sheet of paper and determine a color harmony of their own interpretation based on the reading of this phrase. These will be the colors used in the next Grid and free painting due March 12.
